Summary: Mulder and Scully's daughter, Dana Mulder, finds something shocking on a holiday trip in San Diego. -------------------------------------------- A TWIST OF CHRISTMAS CAROL Written by: Erin M. Blair -------------------------------------------- Dana and Fox Mulder's residence Annapolis, MD A week before Christmas Monday, 1:30 p.m. "Dana!" Dana Scully-Mulder exclaimed to her oldest daughter, Dana Katherine Mulder, as she entered from her old bedroom. She saw her daughter wearing a blue skirt, white blouse, and a blue blazer. Her daughter looked so much like her with her shoulder-length, auburn hair, blue-green eyes, and china doll features. They both wore cross necklaces as a symbol of their faith. "Are you packing for our trip to San Diego?" "Mom, I packed my clothes and my FBI badge," Dana replied, as she smiled at her mother's expression. "I hope that I won't need it...but you never know..." She had a whole new outlook on life since treatment of her nasal-pharyngeal tumor was successful. On top of that, she discovered that she was pregnant with Chris Krycek's, her partner as well as her lover, child. "I think that I understand," Scully smiled. "It has been a long time since my family has seen you and your siblings." "Grandma Scully has seen me more recently," Dana replied. "Is Dad coming?" "Oh, yes, he is. In fact, I had to beg my brother, your Uncle Bill Jr., to be nice to him," Scully answered. She paused. "I just hope that they both behave..." "I hope so, Mom," Dana replied. "I am more worried with Fox and cousin Matthew getting along..." "I know that you were originally planning to spend Christmas with Chris Krycek..." "Mom, it's no problem. Chris and I talked about it, and he said that it was all right. I know how much seeing them means to you," Dana replied. "And besides, he will see me later.." Scully was happy that her daughter finally found someone who cares and loves her, and the fact that her daughter was pregnant. Dana's OB/GYN (as well as Scully's), Dr. Elaine Livingstone, had told her that the baby was definately Dana's. "Did you tell him?" Dana sighed, and closed the suitcase. "He knows that the cancer is gone. I didn't tell him about the baby..." "Why?" "I guess that I am scared, Mom. What happens if he doesn't want the baby?" Dana replied, worried. "I was scared too when I found out that I was going to have you and Fox. I didn't tell him because I found out something about your father. Anyway, it took an accident to bring the two of us together again. Then, I told him. He was the most happiest man on Earth because I was going to have his babies," Scully smiled, as she recalled his happy expression. She laughed. "I only had seen that reaction when he is excited about a case." "So I should tell him?" Dana asked. "Yes, you should. When you were in a coma, Chris was devastated. He wanted revenge on the people who took you, but your father had to talk him out of it," Scully replied, as she hugged her daughter. "I know that he is deeply in love with you." She paused. "Let's see if your father is ready to go as well as your sisters and brothers." They walked down the hallway towards the living room, and Scully smiled as she saw her husband Fox Mulder was with their other children: Fox Jr, Emily, Melissa, and David. She went to Mulder, and said in a low voice. "Did Dana tell you about her news?" "You mean about the pregnancy?" Mulder replied. "Yes, she did. I am happy for both Dana and Chris." "She hadn't told Chris though," Scully sighed. "I think that she's afraid..." "Afraid of what?" Mulder asked. He looked at Dana talking with Melissa and Emily. "That he wouldn't want it." "That's what she said," Scully sighed. "Fox, I think that there is something more to it." She paused. "Perhaps, she will tell us about her fears when she's ready." "I am sure that she will. I think that this trip will do some good," Mulder replied. Meanwhile, Dana was telling her sisters about the pregnancy. "I guess that you are going to be aunts." "That's great, Dana," Emily replied. "I can't wait to have a niece to spoil." She paused. "I think that I better get the luggage from my room." She had a feeling that Melissa wanted to talk to their sister. "Dana?" Melissa asked. She was the youngest sister with a mixture of both Scully and Mulder. She had her mother's auburn hair and china doll features while she got Mulder's height and hazel eyes. "Is something wrong?" "Missy, I think that I am remembering something from my abduction and I am not sure what to do about it." "Maybe you should try regression?" Melissa suggested. "I don't know. Maybe I should," Dana sighed. "You should," Melissa replied. "If it will help you to remember." Bill and Tara Scully's Residence San Diego, CA Thursday, Noon They were at Bill Jr. and Tara Scully's house for a couple days when Dana Mulder answered the phone. "Scully residence," Dana answered. She listened for a few seconds. "Dana," the woman said. "Do you want my mother, Dana Scully-Mulder, or myself, Dana Mulder?" Dana asked. It was always confusing when she answered the phone at her parents house for she never knew who people want. "Dana Mulder," said the woman. "This is she," Dana asked. "Who are you?" "Melissa Scully. Your aunt," Melissa replied. "You are my sister's daughter." "Yes. I am," Dana replied, stunned. She had always thought that her Aunt Melissa was deceased. That's what her parents always thought to be the case. "My parents thought that you died." "It's a long story, but we must meet," Melissa replied. "Do you want to see my Mom? She really missed you. She even named one of my younger sisters after you," Dana replied. "She had shown me pictures of you when both of you were kids.." "Not yet," Melissa replied. "First, I want you to see me." She told her niece where she is. "For now, let's keep this a secret." "All right," Dana replied. "I will see you later then..." She put down the receiver, and her mother walked up to her. "Dana, who was on the phone?" Scully asked. "Um, no one. Mom, I have to go somewhere," Dana replied. "Where?" Scully asked. She knew that her daughter didn't want her to know whatever it was, but decided not to push it. "Ok, but be careful." Ever since her daughter's abduction, she has been keeping a closer tab than usual on Dana. She watched Dana grab her trenchcoat and her FBI wallet, and head out the door. Scully thought, as she walked into the kitchen to help her mother and Tara. "Mom. Can I talk to you?" Margaret Scully looked at her daughter. "What's wrong, Dana?" "It's Dana, Mom. She told me that she is pregnant." "It looks like both you and Fox are going to be grandparents," Margaret replied. "That's good news." "It is, Mom. I think that Dana is scared about her pregnancy. I think that it brings back memories of her abduction," Scully replied. "I thought that you told me that she doesn't remember," Margaret sighed. "Dana doesn't remember, Mom. However, I think that she is beginning to remember her abduction," Scully replied. "Mom, when Dana returned, she was pregnant. She gave birth while comatose, and when she woke up, she didn't remember anything." "She was pregnant?" Margaret replied, stunned. "I didn't know that. Dana wasn't told of this?" "No, Mom. I didn't want to tell her. She has been through so much, and I didn't want to add to her pain." Fox Jr. walked into the kitchen, and he saw his mother talking his grandmother and aunt. He looked like a younger version of his father with brown hair and hazel eyes. "Hi Aunt Tara." Tara saw her nephew, and smiled at him. "Hello Fox." She gave him a hug. "How is everything?" "Fine," Fox Jr. replied. He smiled at his grandmother. "Hi Grandma." "You look so much like your father," Margaret replied. She turned towards her daughter. "Doesn't he?" Scully smiled. "Yes, he does." She paused. "Where is your father?" "He is in the living room talking with Uncle Bill Jr.," Fox Jr. replied. "Mom, where's Dana?" "She went out somewhere," Scully replied. "She didn't say where?" Fox Jr. asked. He paused, looking at his mother. "Mom, what's is it?" "You know, you look so much like your father, Fox. You have the same brown hair and the same hazel eyes." "And the need for corrective lenses," Fox Jr. replied. He only wears glasses for reading as does his twin, Dana. "I know that I look like Dad." He paused. "Do you think that I should be worried?" "I don't think so," Scully replied. "Your sister is very strong, and I think that she can take care of herself." She knew that her son was very protective of her due to their strong bond. "She is going to be fine." She went into the living room, and saw her husband. "Fox, I'm worried." "About Dana?" Mulder asked. He was worried about his daughter too. "Yeah, I am worried too. She'll confide in us when she's ready." "I hope so, Fox. I really hope so." The Park San Diego, CA 12:30 p.m. Dana Mulder walked towards a bench and sat down. She saw a woman with similar looks to her younger sister, Melissa. She had long, auburn hair and hazel eyes. "Hi Aunt Melissa." Melissa Scully smiled at her niece. She looks so much like her sister, Dana, when she last saw her. "You don't know how much you look like your mother." "Mom and Dad named me Dana Katherine Mulder when I was born," Dana replied. "They picked the right name for you," Melissa replied. "I wish that I had seen you and your twin brother when you were born." "I wish that you...get to see my Mom," Dana sighed. "How did you know about me?" "I have my ways," Melissa replied. "I also know that you were abducted like your mother." "How did you know that?" Dana asked. "I was there when you were abducted. They didn't do anything to me... I was told not to contact any of my family or they will be harmed," Melissa replied. "I couldn't help you...but I did sneak into your room trying to give you a reason to live. I didn't want my sister to deal with her daughter's death." "You were there?" Dana replied. "You saw what they did to me?" Melissa nodded. "They inserted something into you... A fertilized egg which was stolen from my sister, your mother, and an alien. It grew inside of you, and you gave birth while you were comatose." "I vaguely remember that," Dana sighed. "I felt something growing inside of me..." "They took the baby girl, and gave it to me to raise," Melissa replied. "It was my only link to my sister, and of course, to you." "I gave birth to my mother's child," Dana replied. "She is also your child as well because of the bond that both of you shared. My sister doesn't have that connection. Therefore, she is your daughter," Melissa sighed. "I know that this traumatic for you, but I think that you have the right to know what they did to you." She paused. "I want you to meet her." "The baby?" Dana asked. "All right." She followed Melissa to the playground where her aunt called out. "Sarah Dana Scully!" The little girl turned around, and Dana gasped. She noticed that that the little girl had auburn hair, blue-green eyes, and china doll features. Sarah walked up to them. "Hello.." "Sarah," Melissa said. "This is your mother, Dana Katherine Mulder. Dana, this is your daughter, Sarah Dana Scully." Dana felt a connection toward the little red haired girl who looked at her with innocent eyes. The little girl had no idea how she was created nor did she care. All she cared was that she had the love of a mother. Dana had given birth to this beautiful little child, and she felt a maternal love for her. "I am your Mommy, Sarah." "Really?" Sarah asked, her blue-green eyes were wide with interest as she looked at her mother. "Yes, I am," Dana replied. Melissa smiled. "Dana, why don't you take Sarah to meet your family?" Dana nodded. "Ok. Aunt Melissa, can you come with me to see my mother." She paused. "She missed you so much.." Bill and Tara's Residence 1:00 p.m. Dana walked into the door with her daughter, Sarah, and her aunt, Melissa, in tow. "Mom?" Dana called. "I am in the living room with your Uncle Bill and Aunt Tara, and your father!" Scully exclaimed. She murmured to Mulder. "I guess that we are going to find out where she was..." "I can't wait," Mulder replied. He looked up to see his daughter walking in with Melissa Scully and a little red-haired girl, who looked so much like Dana when she was that age. "Scully, look." Scully saw her sister with a child. "Melissa!" She got up to hug her sister. "Oh my God! I can't believe it. I thought that you died." Bill Jr. walked up to see his sister. "Melissa, what happened?" Melissa smiled. "I was held up for some years, and I moved out here with Sarah." "How come you didn't come see me?" Bill Jr. asked. "I didn't know where any of you where. I did know that Dana and Fox...excuse me, Mulder, got married and had children," Melissa replied. Mulder smiled. "Melissa, I stopped going by Mulder several years ago since Dana and I started seeing each other. You can call me Fox." He looked at the little girl. "Melissa, who is this?" "That's Sarah Dana Scully. She's Dana's daughter," Melissa replied. "Your daughter's child." Scully looked at the little girl. Sarah looked just like Dana when she was little. "Hello Sarah. I am your grandmother named Dana Scully-Mulder." She looked at Mulder. "And he is your grandfather." She whispered to Melissa. "Missy, does Dana know how she came to be?" Melissa nodded. "I told her." She paused. "Dana, I was there when she abducted. You can say that she had almost died but I gave her a reason to live." "Mom, I remember seeing Aunt Melissa when I was in a coma. I thought that she was my sister, Melissa." "Thank you, Missy, for saving my daughter," Scully replied. "I wish that you could have seen her when she was little." "You're welcome. Dana, she looks so much like you. In a way, I had seen her grow up," Melissa smiled. "I missed you so much." "Me too," Scully replied. "This is the greatest Christmas present that I had ever received." End of Story Next Up: A Twist of Emily Something happens to Mulder and Scully's daughter, Emily Mulder. Is it good or bad?
